The Hammer Gets it's Own Ad

Well folks, at the risk of being flamed I thought everyone would be interested in the following advertisment that Full Tilt Poker is putting out. You can find it at this page, and it's the Chris Ferguson one. Anyone that doesn't like the hammer can put that in their pipe and smoke it.

Poker Blogs

I've been mulling over an idea, and I posted it in the comments of Daddy's blog. One thing that annoys me about blogger is that it is a bit too generic.

I would like to be able to blog in much the same way with more control and features. For example on http://www.wptfan.com/ when you post and have [As] in your post it replaces it with a small image that looks like the ace of spades. Dynamic linking to other blogs would also be possible, adding to a closer knit community for the poker bloggers.

If we can come up with a generic domain I will pay for it and can still offer subdomains like ephro.XXXX.com and snailtrax.XXXX.com. You can even keep posting through blogger and have it automatically upload for you to give yourself the extra features.

Let me know what you think.

Mr. Boo Makes a Boo Boo

Talked to Mr. Boo today. As many of you may know the Party Poker jackpot was over $700,000 last week. Mr. Boo was playing $15/$30 on a BBJ table hoping to hit. He plays at the bar he owns and while he was playing they got busy. The bartender asked if he could restock some of the liquer, which he did, and talked to a few customers. When he returned to Party Poker his table had hit the jackpot a few hands after he had sat out.

Mr. Boo was not too happy when I saw him today.

-----

Ups and downs. Holding 77 board is 4 7 T 5 4. Any way to not go bust to TT? A laydown I can't make. In all honesty when he came back over the top I suspected TT or 44, but figured I would pay it off, the last 4 made a heart flush so I wasn't 100% sure. Had my best day at the blogger table, leaving up over 3x my buyin.

-----

Sitting at the bar today I did some quick math. If you figure that Party has 4 hours of peak time a day, with 7,000 tables playing 60 hands an hour at $0.25 a hand rake, 7 days a week, for 45 weeks (holiday weekends etc.) they make $132,000,000.00 in that calculation alone. Not too bad. That all seems pretty conservative, and I can't even come up with a real guess as to what they make.

Let's say they are pulling in $300,000,000.00 a year in rake (I bet that's pretty low). That's all coming out of the collective bankrolls of poker players. The question of how much is waged a year in poker is staggering.

Are the online sites rigged? Answer: $132,000,000.00
But then again Martha Stewart did some stupid sh*t to save about $100,000.00.

Changing Gears

After a bad run at limit, which usually I do well at, I decieded to try playing NL seriously. SnGs have always been pretty easy for me unless I get no cards and basically get blinded away. Using that logic, I think I have always pushed too hard at NL cash before. I jumped in and pretended it was like playing a SnG and stayed fairly tight. I ran my first $25 buyin to just over $80, at which point I couldn't get any action on my pots, so I went to a new table. This went on for some time, and I posted a winning session of over $150 for the night. Not too bad.

I got quite lucky with some hands, cracking AA and KK when the opposition slowplayed from the begining and I flopped a set with TT on one and two pair with the other. I definitally don't have enough information yet, but I like what I see. Iggy you are so right about the fish on PP, but those fish can be more harm than good sometimes in limit.

It doesn't seem that at the $25/NL tables on Party any fancy playing is needed. Only in rare cases have I run a bluff, but not a naked one, as I don't see many people folding to overbets. The flush draws are absurd, and one has to be careful where one steps. Also playing at the blogger table has a big impact on one's EV. It's not the place to make money when there are so many better tables.

Crazy Hand of the Week

Have a look at the following hand, when the money went in the middle the underdog had a 2.8% shot at the pot. I've decieded that my crazy hands have to have the winner at under a 3% chance on the flop to qualify. This weeks winner is slim6565 on PartyPoker.
